Catherine's Biography

Catherine McManus was named Chief Communications Officer of McGraw Hill in 2025. In her role as head of the McGraw Hill Corporate Communications team, she oversees all external and internal communications efforts for the company, including corporate social responsibility, media relations, brand marketing, employee communications, corporate social media and content marketing. Catherine joined McGraw Hill in November 2018 as VP, Brand Marketing.

Before joining McGraw Hill, Catherine was head of content marketing at Aetna, where she developed Aetna’s first enterprise-wide content strategy. Prior to Aetna, she spent four years at Citi leading the content marketing strategy for Citi’s Global Consumer Bank, which included Women & Co., Citi’s online personal finance resource for women, and Citi’s award-winning Connect: Professional Women’s Network.  

Prior to joining Citi in 2012, Catherine held various roles at The Parenting Group, publisher of Parenting magazine and Parenting.com, where she oversaw the group’s communications strategy. During her nine years at Parenting, she spearheaded the launch of several partnerships with major news outlets like NBC News and Good Morning America, and a wide variety of cause-related marketing campaigns with partners ranging from the National PTA to the NBA. In 2010, she launched a campaign to connect and celebrate parent education advocates that was recognized by The White House as a 2012 “Champion of Change.” 

Catherine began her career at Southard Communications, a PR firm in New York City specializing in consumer product publicity. She is a native New Yorker, a graduate of Fordham University, and currently lives in Manhattan with her husband and their two children.
