“As a leading adaptive learning system for the past nine years, McGraw-Hill Connect with SmartBook has supported learners of all types at colleges and universities around the world,” said Scott Virkler, Chief Product and Operating Officer for McGraw-Hill’s Higher Education group. “Now with SmartBook 2.0’s more powerful and personalized learning capabilities, students are taught the basics before they come to class. When students come to class prepared, their instructors can focus on teaching critical thinking and problem-solving skills. These are exactly the type of skills that are in high-demand in the workforce and set students up for long-term success.”

SmartBook 2.0 tracks student progress and provides reports that allow instructors to identify exactly where and when students are struggling. It helps instructors easily identify students who may be at risk of failing and spend time helping them with the concepts and topics they need to learn to succeed.

With these new enhancements, instructors will also have much greater course content control, including improved alignment with their syllabus and the ability to create pre-testing assignments that are personalized and based on students’ weakest areas. For students, SmartBook 2.0 includes offline and online mobile access to their course assignments and a personalized learning experience that helps them focus on areas where they need extra attention.

“SmartBook is a powerful tool for the hundreds of students I teach every semester – helping pinpoint knowledge gaps and focus their learning on concepts requiring additional study,” said William Hoover, professor at Bunker Hill Community College. “My students are grasping core concepts and coming to class better prepared for advanced instruction. I can’t wait to introduce SmartBook 2.0 into my courses. The more advanced algorithms behind the technology, the mobile and offline reading and assignment completion capabilities and the new reports for instructors will make this incredible tool even more useful and effective.”

McGraw-Hill Connect with SmartBook 2.0 is the latest expansion to McGraw-Hill’s powerful learning technology portfolio in higher education, which also includes McGraw Hill ALEKS and McGraw Hill SIMnet.
