Doug Fisher, Ph.D.
Dr. Doug Fisher is a professor of educational leadership at San Diego State University and a teacher leader at Health Sciences High & Middle College. He is a member of the California Reading Hall of Fame and was honored as an exemplary leader by the Conference on English Leadership. Florida Science reflects Dr. Fisher’s expertise in improving student comprehension using visual supports, explanation through writing, and contextual word support.
Bob Pflugfelder (Science Bob)
Science Bob is a science teacher, author, maker, and presenter with a vast social media following. He is a regular guest on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," "Live with Kelly and Ryan," "The Dr. Oz Show," and Nickelodeon's "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn." Spark students' science imagination and ignite problem solving through Florida Science experiments and demos that Science Bob designed to expand science beyond the walls of the classroom.
Cindy Guerrero, Ph.D.
Dr. Cindy Guerrero is a research scientist at Texas A&M University in the School of Education & Human Development. She has eight years of experience as a public school teacher and 18 years of experience coordinating and leading large-scale federal research grants related to literacy and science instructional interventions for economically challenged students and emergent bilinguals/English-language learners (EBs/ELs). Her contributions to Florida Science have helped ensure ALL learners can succeed in the science classroom.
Julie Jackson, Ph.D.
Dr. Julie Jackson is an associate professor of science education at Texas State University. In 2008, Julie created Interactive Science Word Walls that strategically target academic vocabulary with student-generated graphic organizers. Find Dr. Jackson’s Interactive Word Walls throughout the Florida Science program to maximize student vocabulary learning leading to meaningful connections to FSAS concepts.
Page Keeley, M.Ed.
Page Keeley is an internationally known leader in science education. She is the developer and primary author of the award-winning "Uncovering Student Ideas in Science" series and the "Formative Assessment- Practical Strategies Linking Assessment, Instruction, and Learning" series. Florida Science lessons include a Page Keeley Science Probe and productive lesson strategy to promote student thinking and discussion to reveal misconceptions and inform targeted instruction.
Felicia Mensah, Ph.D.
Dr. Felicia Mensah is a professor of science and education at Teachers College and the vice chair for the Department of Mathematics, Science & Technology. Dr. Mensah provides expertise on life science as well as diversity and inclusion in all science experiences and STEM education.
Dinah Zike, M.Ed.
Dinah Zike is a pioneer in the development and implementation of three-dimensional, kinesthetic teaching aids. Over the last 45+ years, Dinah has invented hundreds of graphic organizers and educational manipulatives that are used nationally and internationally as instructional strategies by teachers, educational publishing companies, universities, and curriculum consultants. Florida Science reflects Dinah’s NEW carefully crafted, intuitive notebook activities designed to improve student writing skills, deepen scientific understanding, and provide reflection opportunities.
