Return Policy

MCGRAW HILL HIGHER EDUCATION RETURN POLICY

Effective for Original Orders July 15, 2021

The McGraw Hill Higher Education (“MHHE”) Return Policy applies to all MHHE products.

1. INSTITUTIONAL CUSTOMER RETURNS POLICY

1.1. NATIONAL PRINT AND ACCESS CARDS WITH CODES FOR DIGITAL PRODUCTS

  • 1.1.1 MHHE will accept 100% return of MHHE National Print and Digital Products without prior authorization within 12 months of the invoice date provided that there is no contract language to the contrary and further provided that the conditions of Section 1.5 of these General Return Conditions are met. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if MHHE determines in its sole discretion that any MHHE National Print Product return is damaged and not resaleable and such damage is not caused by MHHE (“Damaged Product”) MHHE reserves the right to destroy such Damaged Product without notice and without credit.

1.2. LEARNING SOLUTIONS PRINT TITLES (Excluding CREATE Items which are addressed in Section 1.3)

  • 1.2.1 MHHE will accept 100% return of its Learning Solutions Print Titles without prior authorization within 12 months of the invoice date provided that there is no contract language to the contrary and further provided that the terms of this section and the conditions of Section 1.5 General Return Conditions are met. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if MHHE determines in its sole discretion that any Learning Solutions Print Title return is damaged and not resaleable and such damage is not caused by MHHE (“Damaged Product”) MHHE reserves the right to destroy such Damaged Product without notice and without credit.
  • 1.2.2 Learning Solutions products are identified with US-CP, US-X and US-Y discount codes and have 10-digit ISBNs that DO NOT start with the following: 039, 112 and 130.

1.3 CREATE PRINT TITLES (Customized via the MHHE proprietary CREATE system)

  • 1.3.1 Returns of Create print titles are limited to 20% of the original invoice quantity for a specific title and must be returned or postmarked within 12 months of the original invoice date, provided that the terms of this section and the conditions of Section 1.5 of these General Return Conditions are met.
  • 1.3.2 If the title is still in print (IP-ACTIVE or GOP), and the return is in excess of the 20% limit, a credit will be issued for up to 20% of such units. Credit will not be issued for returns of IP-ACTIVE or GOP titles over the 20% limit and such excess units will be destroyed by MHHE immediately upon receipt.
  • 1.3.3 Any exception to the policies listed in Sections 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 is required to be approved by MHHE prior to products being returned to MHHE.
  • 1.3.4 If the title has been declared out-of-publication (OP) and a return is in excess of the 20% limit, a credit will be issued for up to 20% of such units. Credit will not be issued for returns of OP titles over the 20% limit and will be destroyed by MHHE immediately upon receipt.
  • 1.3.5 Create products are identified with an US-CP discount codes and have 10-digit ISBN’s that most commonly start with the following: 039, 112, and 130.

1.4 NON-CREATE PRINT-ON-DEMAND (POD) TITLES

  • 1.4.1 Non-Create Print-on-Demand (POD) titles are not returnable.

1.5 GENERAL RETURN CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLICABLE TO INSTITUTIONAL CUSTOMERS

  • 1.5.1 Products are returned prepaid in new, unmarked, and resalable condition.
  • 1.5.2 CDs or other shrink-wrapped packages are not returnable if shrink wrap is broken.
  • 1.5.3 Block(s) of access codes are not returnable.
  • 1.5.4 Out of Print (OP) products that comply with provisions set forth in Sections 1.1 or 1.2, whichever is applicable, will be accepted for full return if received within 120 days of being declared OP; and OP Create Print Titles that comply with the provisions of Section 1.3 will be accepted up to the 20% limit described in Section 1.3, if received within 90 days of being declared OP. After 90 days, credit will not be issued and any OP product received by MHHE will not be returned to the customer. Returns of older editions will be credited if received within 12 months of the publication of a new edition.
  • 1.5.5 Claims for shortages or damages must be made upon receipt of goods.
  • 1.5.6 A Customer Account #, Invoice #, and date of purchase by line item should be included within the returned shipment. A MHHE invoice or packing list is preferred to ensure proper crediting.
  • 1.5.7 Product should be returned in corrugated cartons (275-pound test, 45 pounds per carton). Fill voids to protect all items. Do not use newspaper as packing materials. Do not stack on edge of bindings.
  • 1.5.8 Returns will only be accepted for product originally purchased from MHHE. Product purchased from other sources (wholesalers, publishers, distributors) will not be credited and may be destroyed without notice.
  • 1.5.9 Used books, customer-stickered books, customer-security labeled or tagged product, and/or other types of nonsalable product are ineligible for credit and may be destroyed without notice.
  • 1.5.10 Partial credits or refunds are not given for Cancellation or Return of any individual component contained within a bundled product package (combination of products sold together).
  • 1.5.11 All associated shipment and handling costs are the responsibility of the customer.

2. INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER RETURNS POLICY

2.1 PRODUCTS PURCHASED ONLINE FROM MHHE

  • PHYSICAL PRODUCTS
  • 2.1.1 You will receive a full refund or be allowed an exchange for printed books, access cards, DVDs, and CDs and other physical products purchased online directly from MHHE if received by MHHE or postmarked within 21 days of invoice date.
  • DIGITAL PRODUCTS
  • 2.1.2 Downloadable digital products are not eligible for return once downloaded.
  • 2.2.2 Digital subscription products required by your institution to be purchased by you with same day access (e.g., Connect, ALEKS), will be allowed a full refund or be allowed an exchange within 14 days of purchase.
  • 2.2.3 There are no refunds or credits for partial subscription periods of individual digital subscription products for your independent use (e.g., Sharpen) if you cancel your subscription after your new billing cycle began.
  • 2.2.4 To obtain a refund, you are required to supply the order number and online access code information to Customer Service.

2.2 GENERAL RETURN CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLICABLE TO INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMERS

  • 2.2.1 Digital subscription products may be subject to additional terms governing returns and refunds, which will be made available to you on the product checkout page and/or your order confirmation email. Please be sure to review all terms posted on the product checkout page or provided in your order confirmation email.
  • 2.2.2 Returns will only be accepted for product originally purchased from MHHE. Product purchased from other sources (wholesalers, publishers, distributors) will not be credited and may be returned to you at your expense.
  • 2.2.3 Used books, customer-stickered books, or customer-security labeled or tagged product, and/or other types of nonsalable product are ineligible for credit and may be destroyed without notice.
  • 2.2.4 Partial credits or refunds are not given for Cancellation or Return of any individual component contained within a bundled product package (combination of products sold together).
  • 2.2.5 All associated shipment and handling costs are your responsibility. Claims for shortages or damages must be made upon your receipt of goods.

PreK–12 Return Policy

Effective December 6, 2016


McGraw Hill School will accept returns of its product with prior authorization from customer service provided they meet the following conditions:

  • Items purchased and paid-for by individuals will need to be returned within 30 days of invoice date. Items purchased by schools must be returned within 12 months of purchase. Further restrictions apply below.

     

  • Products are purchased from McGraw Hill and are returned prepaid in new, unmarked, and resalable condition.
  •  

  • Returns are accompanied by our invoice, or invoice information (invoice number, date, account number, ISBN, purchase price). If this information is not provided and we fail to locate the invoice in our files, a credit cannot be issued and the product will be returned to the customer at their expense.
  •  

  • Returns for domestic customers are received within 12 months of the invoice date for print, software and audiovisual products.
  •  

  • Out of Print products are returned within 90 days of announcement.
  •  

  • Customers report product shortages or damages upon receipt. Defective product within 5 years.
  •  

  • Bundled product must be returned in full (i.e. all components of bundle must be returned). Partial bundle returns will not be accepted.

Subscription product return policy is that any return for product must be researched and supported by Implementation Teams as well as determine what licenses are available for return. Any return, whether licenses are in use or not, will include only the unused time on the license. Any request for full credit would be detailed for the area sales representative to present the case to Finance for approval.

CREATE™/CUSTOM SOLUTIONS PRINT AND EBOOK TITLES: For McGraw Hill School Education users, print and eBook copies cannot be returned. Please confirm your product prior to ordering. Orders cannot be cancelled once placed.
