About the Author
Marcie LePine
Marcie LePine is an Associate Professor of Management and Barrett Honors Faculty. She received her Ph.D. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on the negative and positive effects stress, leadership, and the work-nonwork interface and has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Resource Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Wall Street Journal, and Fortune Magazine. She has consulted with a number of organizations on a range of issues from staffing and training return on investment to leadership competency modeling.
Professor LePine previously held academic positions at Cornell University and the University of Florida and has been with Arizona State University since 2011. She has taught classes of various sizes (from small to large electronic platform), levels (undergraduate, honors undergraduate, graduate, and executive), modes of delivery (face-to-face, blended, and online), and in a variety of HR and OB areas (staffing, training and development, compensation, human resource management, organizational behavior, and management). She has received a number of teaching awards and nominations from the institutions at which she has taught (University of Florida and Cornell University). Most recently she is the recipient of the 2015 John W. Teets Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award (Arizona State University).
Paul Fadil
Paul Fadil is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Management in the Coggin College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and International Management from Florida State University, and an MBA with a focus on International Business from Florida International University.
He has been at UNF since Fall 2004, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Organizational Behavior, International Management, Organizational Theory, Human Resource Management, and Administrative Management. He has won nine awards across five universities for outstanding teaching and instruction. He has also led over 21 study abroad trips in 11 years to Austria, Hungary, Scotland, Italy, Germany, Jamaica, The Czech Republic, and France. He has taught in Germany, France, Japan, South Africa, Hungary, Jamaica, and many other countries. His research focuses on Cross-Cultural applications of Management and Behavioral theories, as well as domestic cultural diversity and social networking theory. He has over 35 articles published in various journals and has won seven individual research awards and commendations. He has presented at over 100 conferences and keynoted several others. He has also worked with numerous corporations on leadership, motivation, and cross-cultural communication throughout the Jacksonville region.
Dr. Fadil has been interviewed by the Florida Times Union and local television and radio outlets over 50 times on various management topics. He was also a contributor to the local NBC/ABC affiliate where he developed and delivered a weekly topic driven show called "Office Chat" that aired at 7pm every Thursday night on First Coast News.
In his down time, Paul loves spending time at the beach with his wife Adrianne and their two beautiful daughters, Jillian and Francesca. He looks forward to many more fruitful years at the Coggin College of Business.
Jeffery LePine
Jeffery A. LePine is the PetSmart Chair in Leadership in the Department of Management at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. He received his PhD in Organizational Behavior from the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at Michigan State University. He also earned an MS in Management from Florida State University and a BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut. He has taught organizational behavior, human resource management, and management of groups and teams at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Jeffrey J. Reuer
Professor Reuer has led courses and seminars on business and corporate strategy, strategic investment decisions, and collaborative strategy in many graduate degree programs and organizations (e.g., Areva, Eli Lilly, Ernst and Young, Euroforum, Kiewit, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, LG, McKinsey, NEC, Owens Corning, Pfizer, Philips International BV, and the World Bank). He has also taught in executive education programs at Harvard Business School, Duke University, INSEAD, the Indian School of Business, the University of Mannheim, the University of St. Gallen, and Peking University. He is the recipient of several MBA teaching awards, including the Excellence in Teaching Award from Duke University for the best core course in the weekend executive MBA program, and the Salgo-Noren Outstanding Master’s Teaching Award at Purdue University.
Professor Reuer has served as an Associate Editor for the Strategic Management Journal and as a Consulting Editor for the Journal of International Business Studies. He is a founding Editor in Chief of the Strategic Management Review. He recently co-edited a special issue of the Strategic Management Journal on the interplay between competition and cooperation, as well as a special issue of Strategy Science on strategic decisions and the integration of strategic management research. He has been a member of the editorial boards of seventeen journals and has received five best reviewer awards. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Strategic Management Society (SMS). He has also served as chair of the nomination and selection committee of the Fellows of the SMS, Chief Grants Officer of the Strategy Research Foundation, co-founder of the Cooperative Strategies Interest Group, and program chair of two SMS conferences. He is a Past Chair of the Strategic Management; Division of the Academy of Management and has also served on that organization's Executive Committee and Research Committee. With colleagues at Northwestern he co-founded the Midwest Strategy Meetings, an annual conference that is geared towards paper and career development for junior faculty and doctoral students at a consortium of business schools.
Professor Reuer’s research uses organizational economics to investigate firms’ external corporate development activities and growth options (e.g., strategic alliances, international joint ventures, acquisitions, and initial public offerings). Recent projects are on the governance and design of alliances, collaborative strategies, and applications of information economics and real options theory to various problems in strategy, international business, and entrepreneurship. He is a Fellow of the Strategic Management Society and was the first recipient of the SMS’ Emerging Scholar Award. He received the Silver Medal from the Journal of International Business Studies for lifetime scholarly contributions to that journal. He is widely published in the field's major academic journals and has been invited to present his research at more than one hundred universities throughout the world. His publication credits also include nine published or forthcoming books. Managerial insights of his research have also appeared as articles and research briefings in the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Financial Times, and the Journal of Applied Corporate Finance.
